  • Clover Creek Road. Nine miles toward Keno, 22 miles on Clover Creek Road.   Paved route offers sweeping view of Southern Oregon Cascades.
  • Crater Lake National Park. Perfect for bicycling. Great view of Crater Lake on the Rim Drive.
  • OC&E Woods Line State Trail. Connects with "A" Canal Bike Path is paved for 11 miles.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

  • Lake of the Woods. 35 miles west of Klamath Falls on Hwy 140; 38 miles of marked ungroomed trails through old-growth timber. Spectacular views of Mt. Lakes and Sky Lakes wilderness areas. Ski rentals.
  • Odell Lake Resorts. From Hwy 97, take Hwy 58 west 20 miles; 5 miles groomed, 30 miles ungroomed trails through Deschutes National Forest.
  • Willamette Pass Sno-Parks. Summit of Cascade Range on Hwy 58; 12 miles of groomed plus 200 acres of skiable ground. Downhill at Oregon’s third largest ski area. Rentals at lodge.
  • Crater Lake. 72 miles north of Klamath Falls on Hwy 97 and 62; hundreds of acres of skiable terrain.
  • Diamond Lake Sno-Park. From Hwy 97, 22 miles west on Hwy 138; Nordic skiing plus other winter activities offered in heart of rugged Cascades just north of Crater Lake.

FISHING

  • Lake of the Woods. 35 miles west of Klamath Falls on Hwy 140; bass, trout fishing, boat rentals.
  • Fish Lake. 40 miles west of Klamath Lake; fishing, boat rentals.
  • Upper Klamath Lake. Oregon’s largest fresh water body is hard to beat for huge rainbow trout.
  • Williamson River. Access points at Williamson River campground, Collier State Park.

HIKING

  • For a view of Crater Lake, climb the Watchman Trail, 1.6 miles, or Mt. Scott at 5 miles, or hike down to the water’s edge in the calders at Cleetwood Cove, 2.2 miles.
  • Lava Beds. .5 mile or 1.5 mile loops through Captain Jack’s Stronghold, which is the site of the Modoc Indian Wars of 1873.
  • Pacific Crest Trail. Transverses Klamath County from Diamond Peak Wilderness area to Hwy 140; Collier Memorial State Park and Logging Museum located on Hwy 97 north. Trails along Spring Creek and Williamson River.

LAKES AND RIVERS

  • Klamath Lake. Largest body of fresh water in Oregon. Canoeing, boating, fishing, boat rentals.
  • Mountain Lake Wilderness. Back-packing, horseback riding.
  • Lake of the Woods. 35 miles west of Klamath Falls. Fishing, boating, canoeing, back-packing, cross-country skiing, snowmobile and boat rentals.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

  • Scott Creek Campground. 47 miles north of Klamath Falls, Forest Service Road 66.

MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES

  • Favell Museum. 125 West Main Street; Western art and Native American artifacts.
  • Baldwin Museum. 31 Main Street; National historic landmark.
  • Klamath County Museum. 1451 Main Street; four sections devoted to area wildlife, Native American heritage, early exploration, and pioneer settlement.

NATURE TRAILS

  • Linkville Nature Trail. On the Linkville River behind Favell’s Museum.
  • Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Cascade Range. One of the first two national scenic trails designated by the National Trails System Act in 1968. Winds across the summit of the Cascade Range through the Sky Wilderness Area.

PARKS

  • Crater Lake National Park. 62 miles northwest of Klamath Falls on Hwy 62. Boat tours, nature walks.
  • Hagelstein Park. 10 miles north of Klamath Falls on Hwy 97. Boat launch.
  • Collier State Park and Logging Museum. 30 miles north of Klamath Falls on Hwy 97. Fishing, hiking, exhibit and visitor information.
  • Moore Park. Soccer fields, tennis courts, playground, nature trail, barbecue pits, beautiful view of Klamath Lake.

SNOWMOBILING

  • Lake of the Woods Sno-Park. 35 miles west of Klamath Falls on Hwy 140; 165 miles of groomed trails are well-suited for beginners through experts. Equipment rental.
  • Crater Lake National Park. From Hwy 97 take Hwy 138 west 15 miles to park’s north entrance; 10 miles of groomed roadway to north rim of the deepest lake in the United States.
  • Diamond Lake. From Hwy 97, take Hwy 138 west 22 miles; 200 miles of groomed trails.

WILDLIFE REFUGE

  • Klamath Basin boasts the largest winter concentration of bald eagles in the contiguous 48 states.
  • Klamath Wildlife Area. 6 miles southwest of Klamath Falls off Hwy 97. The area harbors some of the greasewood patches historically abundant in the basin.
  • Bear Valley Eagle Refuge. Southwest of Wordon. Established in 1978 to protect a major winter roosting site for the bald eagle.
  • Lower Klamath Refuge. Opened in 1908 as the nation’s first wildlife refuge for waterfowl.
  • Upper Klamath Refuge. Northwest shore of upper Klamath Lake. Interior marsh areas are closed during spring to protect breeding and nesting activities.
  • Tulelake National Wildlife Refuge. South of Tulelake. 17,000 acres are leased to local farmers; alfalfa, grass and cereal grain on an additional 2,000 acres serve as major food sources for migratory and wintering waterfowl.
