COLUMBIA NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
Within 30 minutes radius of Moses Lake, in the Columbia Basin
near Othello. Engage yourself in the landscape of rugged
cliffs, canyon, lakes and grasslands were almost 280 species of
wildlife have been observed.
DRY FALLS
Breathtaking nature made from glacier movement through the Columbia
Basin. See it to believe it. 30 miles north on Hwy
17. Interpretive Center.
GINKO PETRIFIED FOREST STATE PARK
One of the most unusual fossil forests in the world containing
over 200 species of identified trees. Interpreter's Station
open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., mid-May to mid-September. Advanced
bookings required for group tours.
GRAND COULEE DAM
Largest concrete dam in the world constructed as part of Franklin
D. Roosevelt's project to aid the farmers of this area during
the Great Depression. Visitor's Center and three guided
tours of the dam's interior are available year-round, except major
holidays. Only 80 miles north of Moses Lake.
GRANT COUNTY FAIR
The largest annual event in the Basin opens in Mid-August, providing
entertainment, carnival rides, a rodeo and many other attractions
with a rural flavor.
GOLF COURSES
The Moses Lake Golf and Country Club offers a putting green and
18-hole course to members and offers play by invitation.
Five miles south on I-90, Exit 174. 765-5094.
South Campus Golf Course, par 3, open to the public. One
mile from Shilo Inns. Nelson Road and Hwy 17. 766-1228
Potholes Golf Course, 9 hole, pro shop, driving range, club and
cart rentals. 346-2447.
Sage Hills Golf Course, located outside Warden, 15 miles south
on Hwy 17. Open to public. 18 holes with pro shop,
club house, club and cart rentals, driving range. 349-7794.
Miniature golf courses include Skyline Miniature Golf, close to
the Grant County Fairgrounds, and Mini Tee Golf, off Exit 176.
Moses Point Golf Course Eight miles west off I-90, Exit 175.
HOUSE OF POVERTY MUSEUM AND MON ROAD
RAILROAD
Contains refurbished antique cars, gas and fire engines, and
relics of the past history of the area. Free admission,
Monday through Friday during summer months, and by appointment
only during the school year.
CITY PARK
Located on the west side of Moses Lake's city limits, this day-use
park features a new and improved swimming beach, playground area,
picnic facilities, a concession stand and restrooms. City
Park is open daily, 6:30 a.m. to dusk during spring and summer
months. Winter hours are 8 a.m. to dusk, Wednesday through
Sunday.
POTHOLES STATE PARK
Within 30 minutes, you can reach this area this area where camping,
canoeing and fishing, including some of the best bass fishing
in the West, is available. Boats are available for rent
and, in season, wildlife viewing is spectacular!
SAND DUNES ORV AREA
Approximately 280 acres of dunes provide hills for climbing and
long stretches for three- and four- wheeling fun.
SUMMER FALLS STATE PARK
40 minutes from Moses Lake, view the splendor of one of the area's
most beautiful waterfalls and best-kept secrets.
WINERIES
Wineries within a short drive from Moses Lake are open to welcome
visitors daily for tours and wine tasting. White Heron Cellars
- 785-5521, in George. Hunter Hill Vineyards just over
the border in Adams County, 346-2607, in Othello.
